Many people think that using essential oils to help support your body is a new trend, but essential oils have actually been around for thousands of years. This wellness trend isn't going anywhere any time soon. There are hundreds of brands, thousands of different oils, and countless resources that are bound to overwhelm you; but that's what I'm here for. I want to simplify it for anyone who is new to this oil world. Once you know the basics you will feel more confident to turn to them for support!
What Exactly Are Essential Oils?
Essential oils are the naturally occurring, volatile aromatic compounds of a plant which are found in the stems, roots, flowers, bark, and other parts of the plant. The purity of the oil is very sensitive. Things such as year grown, geographic location, and method of distillation are all critical factors of the overall quality of the oil.
Why Should I Use Essential Oils?
If you are looking for a more natural, nontoxic way to support your body and your family, consider essential oils. I made the switch when I realized how many chemicals and artificial fillers were in our household cleaners, skincare, over-the-counter medication, and so forth. Oils can help with literally anything you could possibly think of, but just to name a few:

How Do I Use Essential Oils?
There are three different ways to use oils.
Each of these applications is safe when used appropriately. When I was researching the benefits of essential oils I was trying to figure out what company I wanted to go with and after tons of research, I decided on dōTERRA. You may be thinking, well that’s great, but how do I actually use them?
DōTERRA makes it simple, if the bottle has supplement facts on the back, it is safe to consume internally. If not, only use it topically or aromatically.
You can take oils internally by:
Add a drop straight into your mouth
Add a few drops to your water or drink of choice**
Add a very small amount to your food
Veggie Caps (Here are my favorite)
**TIP: If you are adding them to your drink, only use oils in a glass or stainless steel cup! They should never be used in plastic, because pure oils will eat away at the plastic which will go directly into your drink!**
You can use essential oils aromatically through:
1. A Household Cleaner
2. A Linen Spray
2. A Diffuser
Diffusing oils is one of the easiest ways to use essential oils. Our bodies are so complex that our sense of smell has a great impact on our emotions and behavior. While some oils are uplifting and energizing, others can be more grounding and calming. There are many different ways to use oils aromatically. There are tons of diffusers out there, but this one is my favorite.
Oils can be applied directly to the skin. However, to avoid any skin sensitivities it is strongly recommended to apply them with a carrier oil (fractionated coconut oil, jojoba oil, avocado oil, etc.). Everyone responds differently to oils so it is important to keep in mind that dosage may vary depending on the age and size of the person. I recommend starting by using several small doses instead of one large dose.
Common places to apply oils are:
· Back of Neck
· Bottom of the feet
· Wrists & hands
** Definitely avoid sensitive areas like any injured or broken skin or around the eyes.**
Types of Oils
